DIY recipe for clay

MAKE DRY YOURSELF - FUN FOR EVERY CHILDREN'S PARTY

Especially with small children it is important to pay attention to what they play with, especially when several children play together. Because quite often one or the other part ends up in the mouth of the little ones. Homemade dough works well for this.

In addition to the fact that you can determine the ingredients yourself, the clay is also well suited for children's hand motor skills. To make the putty yourself, there are different recipes to be found online. However, many contain Aluan. But even without this unhealthy ingredient, there are some recipes. Two different ones are listed below.

Putty that is non-toxic and smells nice

For the first recipe you will need the following ingredients:

  • 125 ml boiling water
  • 100 grams of salt
  • 200 grams of flour
  • 1 packet of jelly powder
  • 1 pack of cream stiffener powder
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • (food coloring)

dough preparation

Mix the flour, salt, jelly and cream stiffener powder in a bowl. Then add the oil and then add the boiling water to the bowl. Then knead the ingredients. It should be noted that the mixture is particularly hot due to the boiling water. Depending on what was used for jelly powder, the dough may already be slightly colored.

For a more intense result, the dough can be divided at this point and colored with food coloring. Put the color on the respective dough and knead well.

The advantage of this recipe is that the clay smells very good and is a lot of fun. Under supervision, the children can also make the playdough themselves and it is not a problem if some of this playdough ends up in their mouth. The clay keeps in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days and can therefore also be prepared for a children's party.

Long-lasting putty

To make a putty that will keep for several months, the following ingredients are needed:

  • 500 ml boiling water
  • 200 grams of salt
  • 400 grams of flour
  • 2 tbsp citric acid / 2 tsp tartaric acid
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • food coloring

Long-lasting putty preparation

Put all ingredients in a bowl. Care should be taken to ensure that the water is boiling. Then mix everything with a hand mixer and then knead with your hands. The dough should feel similar to cookie dough. After that, the dough can be divided into different bowls and each colored with food coloring. Put some color on the dough and knead it in.

The special thing about this mixture is its long shelf life. The play dough can be used in an airtight container for about half a year without any problems.

food coloring

With all recipes for children's dough you will find different variants for coloring. Often will food coloring used that are otherwise used for baking. However, some also use special food coloring from the pharmacy or try the dye for Easter eggs.

It should be mentioned here that food coloring in powder form is much more difficult to knead in. In most cases, the pigments cannot be kneaded in properly here or produce an uneven result. When choosing the color, you should pay particular attention to compatibility. Some educators also use crepe or tissue paper. This dissolves completely when kneading and does not mold either.

Lasting memory of children's parties

When the children have made clay together and kneaded figures with it, they may want to keep the results. However, it takes time to make the finished plasticine figures durable. The figures should be able to dry on a heater for about a week. The figures are then baked in the oven at 150°C. The duration varies depending on the thickness and should be between 30 and 60 minutes.
