The parrot cake is very easy to classify in terms of level and is therefore also very suitable for beginners. In addition, the colorful sheet cake is ready to be enjoyed in no time at all: the dough of the parrot cake is ready in around 30 minutes and the most time-consuming part is already done.

This is followed by a baking time of around 25 minutes and a resting and cooling time of around 20 minutes.

Ingredients for the dough and the glaze are required for one tray of the colorful parrot cake:

The parrot cake batter is made from 300 grams of flour seasoned with a pinch of pantry salt. Add 4 medium-sized eggs and 75ml milk. 250 grams of the butter are needed for the dough, but you should also think about some butter for later greasing the baking tin. 250 grams of sugar and two packs of vanilla sugar provide the right sweetness.

A pack of baking powder is needed to make the dough fluffy and fluffy. Different food colors such as red, yellow, green and blue ensure the colorful gradient in the dough. Another 250 grams of icing sugar is needed for the glaze. This is usually enriched with 5 tablespoons of lemon juice.

Tip: If you don't like the sour lemon juice, you can alternatively prepare the frosting with the same amount of water. Finally, the glaze is decorated with colorful sugar sprinkles.

Parrot Cake - Step 1

REQUIRED INGREDIENTS:

  • 300 grams of flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 250g softened butter
  • 250 grams of sugar
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 75 ml milk

To start, mix together the dry ingredients – 300 grams of flour, 1 pack of baking powder, 1 pinch of salt and 2 packs of vanilla sugar – and set aside. In a separate bowl, mix the 250 grams of softened butter with the 250 grams of sugar. The 4 eggs are then gradually stirred in. Then add the flour mixture and 75 ml milk and stir the mixture together briefly. Finally, divide the batter evenly between four bowls.

Parrot Cake - Step 2

REQUIRED INGREDIENTS:

  • Various food colors, at least blue, green, yellow, and red
  • some butter for the baking pan

Each of these bowls of dough is provided with a few drops of food coloring and briefly stirred again. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (160 degrees for a fan oven). Grease the baking sheet well. Now distribute the different colored dough in blobs on the well-greased baking sheet as you wish.

REQUIRED INGREDIENTS

  • 250g powdered sugar
  • 5 tbsp lemon juice (optional 5 tbsp water)

Then carefully smooth out the dough and bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. The cake should then cool down completely in the tray. For the icing, 250g powdered sugar and 5 tablespoons lemon juice are mixed and poured onto the cake. Finally, decorate the frosting with colorful sugar sprinkles and leave to set.
