for the dough:
- 240 grams of flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 90 grams of sugar
- 60 ml vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 125 ml milk
for the decor:
- 1 pack of raw marzipan
- 1 packet of chocolate drops
- 1 packet coconut flakes
- blue food coloring
- 1 pack of powdered sugar
- 1 pack of mini cookies
- 1 hour
Preparation - step by step instructions
First, a simple basic recipe for the muffins can be used. Here you can choose whether you prefer a classic batter or a muffin with chocolate notes.
Here is a variant:
The ingredients flour, baking powder, sugar and salt are first mixed together to form a mass. In another bowl, the remaining ingredients (oil, egg and milk) are mixed together. This mass is slightly more liquid than the one in the other bowl. Now the two mixed units can be mixed together until a smooth dough is formed.
This should give you enough batter for 12 muffins. After the paper cups have been placed in the muffin tin, the finished batter can be poured in. The paper molds can be well filled to make large muffins. Finally, the dough can be baked in the oven at 180 °C for about 20 minutes. Now the basic framework for the Cookie Monster has been created. Once cool, the simple muffins turn into the fun blue monsters.
From muffin to cookie monster
The important are next to the blue food coloring also big eyes. Ideally, raw marzipan can be used to shape the eyes, as it is easy to shape. If you don't like them, you can also use fondant. A total of 24 balls of the same size must be formed from the respective mass.
The finished eyes can then be rolled in icing sugar to give them a nice white color. Chocolate drops can be placed on the white balls as pupils. Before the eyes can be placed on the muffins, they must first take on the shape of the Cookie Monster. It is a good idea to color coconut flakes with blue food coloring. This is the best way to show the Cookie Monster's fur.
The coconut flakes are simply placed in a bowl and the liquid food coloring is poured over them. By stirring it can be determined whether all coconut flakes are already colored.
Now the grated coconut and the eyes only have to be attached to the muffins. A good "glue" is a icing. For this, some powdered sugar must be placed in a bowl. More and more water is then added while stirring.
As soon as a liquid and, above all, sticky mass results, the muffins can first be dipped into the icing and then straight into the blue grated coconut. The eyes can also be attached at the same time. But speed is also important here, as the icing dries very quickly and then no longer sticks.
To give the cookie monster its final appearance, an opening for the mouth can then be cut out. Half mini cookies can then be placed in the open mouth. This is how the cookie monster muffins look like the original.
The production of the Krümelmonster Muffins is only associated with a little more effort than the normal muffin. For this, unforgettable and particularly tasty muffins are served, which not only cause wide eyes on the table at a children's birthday party.
